Valery Vilchez Parra, MD, Appointed PRIME-LC Co-Director

Valery Vilchez Parra, MD, has been appointed co-director of the PRIME-LC program. Vilchez Parra joins Charles Vega, MD, in leading this important program that trains physicians to better address the healthcare needs of the Latino community. Vilchez Parra is an assistant professor of surgery in the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery and an advocate for inclusive excellence in medicine, global health and equity in surgical care.

During her time at the UC Irvine School of Medicine, she has served as an advisor for the School of Medicine Vulcan House, a co-director of the Summer Healthcare Experience Program, a faculty mentor for the PRIME-LC program, and co-founded the UC Irvine Latino Physicians Outreach Group and the University of California Latino Physicians Consortium.
