UCI Radiological Sciences at RSNA 2024 Posted: 2024-12-16 Source: Department of Radiological Sciences News Type: Features & Briefs share RSNA 2024 Annual Conference in Chicago, Illinois UCI Radiological Sciences spent the first week of December in Chicago, Illinois attending the Radiological Society of North America’s annual conference. This year, we had many representatives attending this prestigious conference and we are excited to share all the great accomplishments they made during their visit. Academic Achievements We had many residents, faculty and reseachers attending RSNA 2024 this year to present their research. In this section highlights some of these great accomplishments and celebrates their hard work! UCI Radiology residents Angellica Gordon and Ali Rashid presented their academic poster on "Prevalence of health-related social needs and association with imaging appointment cancellations among patients with cancer." UCI Radiology residents Kevin Dao and Ozivefushe Dimovo presented their academic poster on "Decoding public preferences in breast cancer screening cost sharing." Wei Shao, a graduate student researcher working with Dr. Peter Chang at CAIDM, presented his academic poster, "Two serial 3D deep learning algorithms were developed to first detect then calculate the volume of exams that contain parotid tumor.” Ali Rashidi Interviewed at RSNA 24 Ali Rashidi was interviewed about his study, “Association between price transparency and patient decision to complete outpatient imaging.” Watch the whole interview on YouTube! Seyedeh Niloufar Rafiei Alavi has strong showing at RSNA 24 Niloufar Rafiei Alavi presented many things during RSNA, which include the following: Scientific Posters: “Comparing PSMA PET/CT and Multiparametric MRI for Selecting Eligibility for Focal Therapy in Prostate Cancer” “Intermediate PI-RADS Lesions: Is there a role for PSMA PET/CT?” Educational Exhibits: “Prostate Not-So-Specific Membrane Antigen: A Review of Benign and Malignant Findings” -“Identified for Radiographics” award and was invited by the Radiographic Editorial Board for a full-text educational review article. “How to report PSMA PET/CT? A review of available standardized scoring systems” Oral Presentation: “Impact of Patient Volume on Iodinated Contrast Material Waste with Multidose Contrast Injectors” – Recognized by RSNA President, Dr. Hanmann Success and Recognition at RSNA 2024 We had many members of our department receive awards, put on great workshops and give informative talks at RSNA. In this section we would like to showcase those achievements! Vahid Yaghmai, MD, receives Distinguished Investigator Award During the RSNA meeting on December 3, The Academy for Radiology and Biomedical Imaging Research hosted the Distinguished Investigator Award ceremony. Congratulations to Radiological Sciences Department Chair Vahid Yaghmai, MD, for being honored as a Distinguished Investigator in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field. Jasmine Zhao and Speed Mentoring Event Jasmine Zhao co-hosted the AAWR Members In Training Speed Mentoring Session during RSNA 2024 Gelareh Sadigh, MD Sadigh was featured in two talks that took place over RSNA: “RSNA Health Equity Committee/R&E Foundation Emerging Issues Grant Recipient Fireside Chat” and “ITARJF: Lessons Learned – Insight and Advice for Early Career Faculty." Peter Chang, MD Chang held a workshop during RSNA titled: "Deep Learning Lab: Best Practices for Model Training: Architectures, Hyperparameters & Optimization." Nadine Abi-Jaoudeh, MD Abi-Jaoudeh gave a talk on “Oligometastastic Colorectal Cancer Management” and will be taking over as RSNA News editorial chair.
