Munjal Acharya, PhD, Awarded 2025 Basic Science COHS Team Research Award Posted: 2025-06-18 Source: UC Irvine School of Medicine News Type: Features & Briefs share Alexandre Chan, PharmD, MPH, and Munjal Acharya, PhD The team of Munjal Acharya, PhD, associate professor of anatomy & neurobiology and radiation oncology, and Alexandre Chan, PharmD, MPH, founding chair of the UC Irvine School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences’ Department of Clinical Pharmacy Practice, were awarded the 2025 Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences (COHS) Faculty Assembly Basic Science COHS Team Research Award. Selected by the COHS Faculty Assembly Interdisciplinary Research Ad Hoc Workgroup, the Basic Science COHS Team Research Award recognizes COHS faculty members who work to advance health through interdisciplinary research collaborations. Acharya and Chan's research focuses on the alleviation of cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI). They have collaborated on many studies, including “Dynamin-1 is a potential mediator in cancer-related cognitive impairment,” “Augmentation of Dynamin-1 Levels Using Catalpol to Prevent Cancer-related Cognitive Impairment (ADC Study),” “Research Attitude and Interest among Cancer Survivors with or without Cognitive Impairment." The team was honored with the award at the COHS Faculty Representative Assembly meeting on May 7, 2025.
