The LCME is the national accrediting organization for U.S. medical schools. UCI School of Medicine received its most recent full eight-year reaccreditation in 2017. News & Events: Curriculum Mapping Retreat On April 18, 2024, the Offices of Education Compliance and Quality and Curricular Affairs hosted the inaugural curriculum mapping retreat which brought together course and clerkship directors with the Medical Education team to focus on capturing the learning objectives, instructional methods and assessments happening across our curriculum. The results of this effort enable ongoing review of our curriculum to ensure we continue to meet our school’s educational program objectives and prepare our students to achieve the competencies needed to successfully transition to residency. Follow the Zot Quality Improvements in the monthly Medical Education newsletter for additional updates that support our students. LCME Spotlight Standard 5: Educational Resources and Infrastructure LCME Standard 5 focuses on the personnel, financial, instructional and learning space resources to support the medical education program. The School of Medicine made a significant commitment to updating the learning environment with a multi-floor renovation of the Medical Education Building that was completed in January 2024 and includes new active learning teaching spaces, expanded student lounge and relaxation areas and a state-of-the-art Anatomy lab. The next phase of the learning environment updates is underway and includes the student lounge and relaxation space at the UCI Medical Center, the primary clinical site for our students.
