2nd Annual UCI Medical Student Trip to India Posted: 2025-03-03 Source: UC Irvine School of Medicine News Type: Features & Briefs share In late December through early January, nine UC Irvine medical students accompanied by Rimal Bera, MD, professor of psychiatry and human behavior, traveled to Rajkot, India to visit the Rajkot School of Medicine and collaborate with the Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay Medical College. The group of students included Alfredo Arroyo, MS4, Juan Hoyos, MS4, Ronak Intwala, MS4, Rakesh Nemmani, MS2, Kruti Patel, MS2, Sana Shah, MS2, David Shah, MS4, Caitlyn Sing, MS4, and Robert Tran, MS1. During the visit, the students provided clinical care to surrounding communities and visited local high schools to educate them in the sciences. They also participated in research projects and proposed public health initiatives to enhance community health. Bera shared that this was another transformative experience for all, and it is really nice to see the continuing growth of this program. The clinical trip was made possible by the generosity of the Bera family.
