Physician Scientist Collective Distinguished Speaker Series

Maryam Asgari is the inaugural University of Colorado Medicine Endowed Chair of the Department of Dermatology. She joined the University of Colorado in 2023 from Harvard Medical School, where she was a Professor of Dermatology and Population Medicine and developed a strong track record of program building. This included serving as Director of the Patient-Oriented Research in the Epidemiology of Skin Diseases (PORES) clinical research unit, where she oversaw a team of scientists and trainees. Her discoveries have led to seminal contributions regarding skin cancer risk and etiology.

Dr. Asgari aims to provide exceptional clinical care to skin cancer patients, conduct cutting-edge research to advance dermatologic disease management, and teach and mentor trainees to improve personalized dermatologic care delivery. Dr. Asgari is a NIAMS K24 awardee with a strong track record of mentorship. She will share pearls on how to best to incorporate medical students and residents into research efforts.
