Bio

Y Pritham Raj, MD, did his undergraduate work at The Johns Hopkins University before completing medical school at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He then trained in Internal Medicine-Psychiatry at Duke University Medical Center, where he remained on the faculty for several years. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon, and is an associate professor of internal medicine and psychiatry at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), specializing in the relationship between general internal medicine and psychiatry.

In addition to the practice of general medicine, he has developed an award-winning med-psych teaching clinic at OHSU, working with the internal medicine house staff to care for patients using a “mind-body” approach. He also serves as chief medical officer at Active Path Mental Health, the largest provider of transcranial magnetic stimulation in Oregon.

To date, Raj has done clinical research in obesity, depression in the critically ill, mild cognitive impairment/dementia and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and has spoken nationally and internationally on his work. In his spare time, Raj enjoys spending time with his family. He is a classical trumpet player who enjoys writing, traveling and racquet sports. During the fall, you can often expect to find him visiting his hometown of Washington, D.C., rooting for his beloved Commanders.
