Hello, friends! My name is Shirin, and I’m an MS4 applying to internal medicine. I’m originally from Iran, grew up in Egypt and got my bachelor’s in computer science from Stanford University back in 2017. I worked as a software developer in the Bay Area for four years before moving down to beautiful Southern California for medical school. My research is centered on applying machine learning techniques to diagnostic imaging and, more broadly, incorporating artificial intelligence into medical practice/education. In terms of study strategies, I mainly used UCISOM Anki cards during MS1, a mix of Sketchy, Pathoma, Anki and UWorld during MS2, and a mix of UWorld, Amboss, Anki and NBME resources during MS3. During MS4, I look forward to spending more time at the beach and less time with practice questions. If you see me in the wards, please say hi — I love to teach and am happy to be a resource to you in any way I can.
