Abbey Houchin

Hi, everyone! My name is Abbey, and I’m a fifth-year student in the MSTP (MD/PhD program) currently working on my PhD in the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior. I am originally from Central Florida and have loved living in SoCal for the last three years! I am passionate about health equity, social medicine and physician advocacy. In my free time, I enjoy spending time outside (always down for hiking and beach trips!), going to concerts, thrift shopping, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, and cooking and baking with friends. My personal study style during medical school varied at times, and I think allowing yourself flexibility and space to explore how you learn best is key to success (for example, I am a visual learner and love talking through concepts, but Anki doesn't work for me!). I’m always happy to answer questions and look forward to supporting you on your journey to becoming an excellent physician!
