Home Research Research: Clinical Departments Neurology: Home Neurology: Education & Training Neurology: Education & Training > Fellowship Programs Neurology: Education & Training > Fellowship Programs > Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship Program Overview The Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship program provides comprehensive training in neuromuscular disorders, including the diagnosis and clinical management of inherited and acquired neuromuscular disorders (general neuromuscular, neuropathy, MDA, ALS and myasthenia gravis), training in electrodiagnostic medicine (EMG, single-fiber EMG, quantitative sensory testing and autonomic testing), as well as nerve and muscle biopsy analysis. After the one-year program, fellows may continue for an additional year in our Advanced Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship program. Research opportunities are available, and research and scholarship are encouraged. How to Apply The Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship accepts applications through the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Applicants must have completed an adult or child neurology residency and be American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology board-eligible, with a California medical license prior to the July 1 program start date. VIEW SALARY & BENEFITS Current Fellows Aram Asatrian, MD, PhD Erin Ton, MD Meet the Program Director Ali Habib, MD, is a board-certified UCI Health neurologist, specializing in neuromuscular disorders. He earned his medical degree at Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan. He completed an internal medicine internship neurology residency at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell and fellowships in neurophysiology at New York Presbyterian-Columbia University Medical Center and in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and related disorders at the Eleanor & Lou Gehrig ALS Center at Columbia University. Habib’s primary research interest is in myasthenia gravis (MG) and he has been site and lead investigator in several pivotal trials for novel therapies in MG. He also has experience with clinical care for other neuromuscular disorders including ALS, muscle disorders and neuropathies.
