Our teaching faculty members are highly experienced clinicians committed to our students’ success. The department offers educational opportunities through its clerkship, residency and fellowship programs. Medical Student Education Our monthlong clerkship program gives medical students a strong background in the fundamentals of neurology, including learning how to examine, diagnose and treat neurology patients. Neurology electives for medical students include a neurology sub-internship, neuromuscular medicine, neurocritical care and ICU, and a neurology research rotation. Clerkship & Electives Residency Our fully accredited four-year residency program offers expertise and training in all neurological subspecialties at UCI Medical Center, Children’s Hospital of Orange County and VA Long Beach Health Care System. Residency Program Fellowships The Neurology Department offers advanced subspecialty neurology training through several fellowship programs. Fellowship Programs Grand Rounds We also maintain a full calendar of weekly Grand Rounds and lectures given by UC Irvine faculty, and visiting clinicians and researchers from all over the world who specialize in the field of neurology. Verification Requests for Graduates The Department of Neurology residency program, ACGME fellowship programs and non-ACGME fellowship programs charge a $62 processing fee for each training verification request. Training verification requests may include, but are not limited to: Graduate medical education training verifications Hospital staff credentialing State medical board verifications Other requests requiring confirmation of training or program participation Verification Timeframe: The Department of Neurology can only verify training completed within the past five years. Requests for training completed more than five years ago should be directed to gme@hs.uci.edu. To request a training verification, please submit the completed release form and verification request to askneuroedu@hs.uci.edu.
