Home Research Research: Clinical Departments Neurology: Home Neurology: Education & Training Neurology: Education & Training > Fellowship Programs Neurology: Education & Training > Fellowship Programs > Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship Program Overview The Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship program is a joint fellowship between UCI Medical Center and CHOC (Children's Hospital of Orange County), and we offer both adult and pediatric positions. Adult Clinical Neurophysiology Curriculum The adult position is open to trainees who have completed a neurology residency program prior to starting the fellowship. The majority of the time is focused on gaining expertise in interpreting adult routine EEG and continuous neurocritical care EEG, as well as on the epilepsy monitoring unit. The fellows will also have hands-on exposure to the intracranial EEG monitoring, as well as complex procedures such as electrocorticography and functional brain mapping. Training also includes outpatient epilepsy management. Fellows will spend additional time at CHOC for pediatric EEG and epilepsy training. The rest of the training is focused on electives, research and other neurophysiological procedures, such as electromyography (EMG) or intraoperative neuromonitoring. Pediatric Clinical Neurophysiology Curriculum The pediatric position is open to trainees who complete a child neurology residency program prior to starting the fellowship. The structure is analogous to the adult position: Seven months are spent at CHOC for primary emphasis on pediatric epilepsy and EEG, three months are spent at UCI Medical Center on the adult epilepsy/EEG side and two elective months are provided. How to Apply The fellowship accepts applications through ERAS and NRMP. Applicants must have completed an adult or child neurology residency and be American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology board-eligible, with a California medical license before the July 1 program start date.
