The course focuses on the ANSI/ASSE Z9.14 Standard, the only document available that provides a prescriptive approach to conducting BSL-3 facility verification. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to understand and apply the ANSI Z9.14 BSL-3 testing and verification standard on new and existing BSL-3 facilities.

Through a combination of didactic and practical instruction, the course guides participants to work in teams to carry out essential procedures outlined in the ANSI Z9/14 standard, including document reviews, visual inspections, normal inspections, and failure testing at our BSL-3 Laboratory Training Center. Together, participants will utilize their practical findings to conduct risk assessments and evaluate facility suitability for work with Risk Group 3 infectious materials.
