Four fellows are accepted for the Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship program per year. The program begins July 1st of each year.

Applicants must apply through the ERAS system. The program will receive access to applications mid-July. Early submission is recommended as interview slots may be filled prior to application deadlines. For international applicants, we accept J-1 visa status only.

Three Letters of Recommendation


You must obtain one letter from each of the following:

  • A palliative care or hospice physician
  • A letter from a supervisor (i.e. Program Director, Attending)
  • A letter of your choice (i.e. Palliative Care Social Worker, Nurse, or PharmD)

Medical Licensure


Applicants should ensure that they are eligible for medical licensure in the state of California prior to applying. Requirements can be found on the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California websites.
