Applications open in June and close in early July. As the program continues to expand, prospective students will be able to express interest through the secondary application during the admissions process for the medical degree program. Students must meet the following eligibility requirements to apply to the Physician Innovator Training Program: Current School of Medicine Enrollment Be currently enrolled in the UC Irvine medical school program. Rising MS2 Status Be a rising MS2 student who has completed the Foundations of Innovation and Engineering elective. Rising MS3 students who previously completed the elective during the 2026 year may be considered for exceptional approval. VIEW ELECTIVE Completed BioENGINE Have participated in the BioENGINE program (either as a participant or mentor).
