Physician Innovator Training Program

UC Irvine is the first institution in the UC system to establish a mission-based physician-innovator medical school program offered jointly by the Schools of Medicine and Engineering.

As the first of its kind in the UC system, the UC Irvine Physician Innovator Training Program (PITP) is setting a gold standard for blending clinical training with engineering to transform the future of healthcare.

The joint mission-based medical school program — offered by the School of Medicine and the School of Engineering — prepares clinical leaders to develop novel technologies that advance the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of human disease.
