It is with tremendous pride that I introduce you to one of the best general surgery residency training programs you will find anywhere. UC Irvine is a rich environment for learning, operating, academic advancement and launching your successful career. We focus on training the surgeon of the future, and pride ourselves on high-quality patient care that translates to highly competent trainees capable of easily matching in the fellowship of their choosing or entering practice directly and competently. Surgery training is arduous and requires tenacity. However, our program proves that a challenging experience can still be a great one. You will leave this program having made lifelong mentors, friends and colleagues that will serve you well into the future. We are particularly focused on minimally invasive surgery, which includes a robust laparoscopic and robotic experience. Combined with a healthy infusion of open surgery, our graduates are comfortable with any surgical approach and capable of tackling even the most complex cases. Set in the beautiful environment of Orange County and Southern California, time spent outside of work can be consistently enjoyed and appreciated for an enviable work-life balance.
