Research The Division of Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery is dedicated to the advancement of care for women with pelvic floor disorders through innovative research including basic science, clinical trials and population-level studies to improve quality of life for patients affected by pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, recurrent urinary tract infections and the genitourinary syndrome of menopause. Our current areas of research include the treatment of genitourinary symptoms of menopause, recurrent urinary tract infections during all life stages, overactive bladder, and the use of GLP-1 agonist medication on pelvic floor disorders. Learn More Clinical Expertise Faculty members in the Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at UC Irvine School of Medicine employ a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction. Our trainees are taught by a team that includes urogynecologists, physical therapists and specially trained nurses and technicians. In addition, we have close working relationships with specialists in colorectal surgery, urology, gastroenterology, pain management and radiology. Together, we teach medical students, residents and fellows to provide comprehensive care using the latest technologies to treat a range of conditions, including prolapse, urinary or fecal incontinence, and other pelvic floor conditions.
