The Department of Radiological Sciences offers a one-year Abdominal Imaging fellowship with an emphasis on cross-sectional abdominal imaging and coordinated experience in CT, Ultrasound, MRI and image-guided procedures.

In addition to the one-year fellowship focused on Abdominal imaging, we offer tracks that combine abdominal imaging with breast imaging, artificial intelligence training or specialization in advanced MR imaging.

Eight abdominal Imaging fellowship-trained faculty members will supervise the fellowship. Our faculty, rich clinical material and excellent relationships with referring clinicians provide a robust educational environment for our fellows. At the conclusion of their training, fellows are well-prepared for demanding academic and private practice positions.

We provide an optimal combination of high-advanced imaging volume, a variety of cases, experience with protocoling, and academic and research time, to produce skilled, well-rounded abdominal imagers with extensive knowledge of abdominal imaging.

Fellows will participate in ultrasound-guided procedures and will gain vast experience in vascular ultrasound.

Trainees will have a dedicated learning curriculum. There is a monthly Abdominal Imaging fellows lecture, a monthly research committee meeting and weekly Abdominal Imaging case conferences. In addition, active participation in the quarterly Los Angeles body club is also encouraged, where fellows from all other programs in the region will present interesting abdominal imaging cases.

Conferences

Our faculty and fellows participate in multi-disciplinary conferences, including weekly Hepatobiliary and Colorectal oncologic tumor boards and biweekly Genitourinary conferences, which provide an in-depth experience in diagnosis, management and follow-up of complex cases.

Research

Ample scientific and educational research opportunities in Abdominal Imaging are available. Our fellows are encouraged to participate in national/international radiological meetings with dedicated conference time. We routinely publish in high-impact radiology journals and are active at national meetings. Participation in the department’s ongoing research projects and publications is highly encouraged.

Call

Our fellows participate in Abdominal Imaging subspecialty weekend call. Optional moonlighting opportunities are available to interested fellows.
